Welcome to the next stage of YOUniversity, your reflection that will continue to develop as you learn more about colleges, the application process, and what 'best fit' means to you. You've already created an introductory charter for YOUniversity after the Summer Institute. Now, you will respond to the questions below utilizing what was covered in College 201+ and reviewing what you've previously written about your idea of best fit.

Please keep in mind that the questions you have about college, the things that appeal to you, and the information you have might change as you progress throughout the year, and that's fine!



YOUniversity 101
Welcome to the start of YOUniversity - a self-designed college experience that you will craft over the next year in order to envision your best fit school. Like the birth of all colleges and universities, you will start by initiating a charter - a statement of intention for what type of school you envision yourself attending. 

Utilizing what you have learned from College 101 and your visit to two college campuses during the Summer Institute, please write an initial charter for YOUniversity. Feel free to use some of the terminology that you learned during Summer Institute, i.e. "liberal arts" and "preprofessional," and also consider what you hope to hear, see, think and feel while on campus. Keep in mind that your vision will probably change as you progress throughout the year, and that's okay! This charter is only the starting point for you to start to understand what makes a school a good fit for you.

College Research Begins
As you learned during College 301, you will work on a College Research Project now through May 5th where you will get to choose colleges from all regions of the country to learn more about. 

You will use the Research Tools you learned about (Big Future, Appily, College Navigator, Scoir, and college websites) to complete this research. 

For your research project you will have to research a total of 8 schools from the different regions in the United States (including a CUNY and a SUNY). You will find the guidelines, along with a complete list of colleges to research by going to https://tinyurl.com/CollegesToResearch2024

You will organize your findings in a Google Sheet: https://tinyurl.com/2029-CollegeResearchProject

  1. Click 'File' in upper left corner to 'Make a copy' of Google Sheet.
  2. Rename sheet to include your name. Example - Audrianna Evelyn_College Research 2024
  3. Once completed, you will submit the Google Sheet link in the questions below (Due May 5th).
